Croydon IAPT is a free and confidential NHS service provided by the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
They offer a range of psychological therapies to adults 18 years and over, who are registered with a Croydon GP.
IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) is a national programme that was created in 2005 after it was recognised that a very large percentage of the population suffer with problems like depression and anxiety at some point in their lives. Each county and London borough have their own local IAPT service that provides evidence based treatment for common problems like these.
WHAT IS JUST LIVE WELL?
Just Live Well is a 12 month, face-to-face service delivered by qualified advisors, which works with Croydon residents who might find it difficult to make changes in their life without additional support.
It is designed to provide support that can help you:
• quit smoking
• lose weight
• eat more healthily
• become more physically active
• cut down on alcohol
• improve mental wellbeing
The programme uses recognised coaching techniques such as motivational interviewing and goal-setting to help you make meaningful changes to your life

Social prescribing, sometimes referred to as community referral, is a means of enabling GPs, nurses and other primary care professionals to refer people to a range of local, non-clinical services.

Experienced benefits advisor offers one-to-one meetings, where you can discuss your circumstances and the advisor can identify possible entitlement to all available welfare benefits, tax credits, health benefits, or other services provided by the local authority or the voluntary sector.

The surgery offers specialised clinics or nurses expert in the following areas:
Appointments can be made via reception or at your GP’s recommendation.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Well Baby Clinic
The Health Visitors run this clinic at the surgery on the first and third Thursday of every month. Clinic starts at 1.30pm and finishes at 3.00pm.
We can also offer a dedicated travel clinic. To make sure you get the full benefit of the advice and immunisation offered you are advised to book well ahead of your travel date. See the above Travel Vaccinations page for more details.
Well woman checks and family planning advice is available as required. Simply make an appointment with the GP of your choice.
Smear tests are strongly recommended at regular intervals for women aged 25-64. You will receive a call letter automatically and can make an appointment at reception.
We have the facilities to perform certain minor surgical procedures. Your GP will make arrangements where indicated.
Our practice nurses run flu clinics starting in autumn each year. Injections are recommended for those over 65 or with certain chronic medical conditions. If appropriate you may also be offered a pneumonia vaccination.
Milestone development checks are carried out either at the surgery or by the Health Visitors. Details can be found in your child’s red book or from the Health Visitors themselves. A full programme of immunisation is encouraged.

We aim to provide the best services possible but there may be times when you feel this has not happened. Please note that we have to respect our duty of confidentiality to patients and a patient’s consent will be necessary if a complaint is not made by them in person. If you feel you have grounds for complaint, please discuss these with the member of staff concerned, when it is hoped any problem can be resolved at once. However, should you not wish to speak to the person concerned, please contact our Practice Manager or Reception Team Leader either directly or in writing. We operate a practice complaints procedure as part of the NHS system for dealing with complaints. A complaints leaflet is available from reception on our procedure.
